Not me Mondays- The video post

For Christmas we did not get the little man a big wheel hopping that adjustable seat would help him to reach the peddles (on account of him being on the short side and all). We did not insist on a big wheel because both me and the hubby had them growing up and we dont live through your child at all.

So yesterday the little man did not try out his new 'bike' and come to find out that he still can not reach the peddles. So he did not have more fun pushing it around.

It was also not just above freezing outside, the neighbors yard was not still covered with frost while the hubby was not washing the car. So we dont now have a nice shinny sheet of ice in the driveway.

All of this did not happen while the little man was wearing his cow boots on the wrong feet. If you dont believe me than just see for yourself.

A little break in the rain

The cold weather is gone and the rain is back but today we got a little break from the rain and the little man ran to grab his boots to go out and play.

Didn't he do a good job of dressing himself. I just love how the boots are on the wrong feet. I also go such a kick out out of his hat. I was asking for a hat that covered his ears but there was no way he was going to put a different hat on. He was so proud.

He was playing so nicely outside I was able to do a load of dishes with out being interrupted. When I showed up outside with the camera he wanted me to stay and play. Next time I will just watch him from the window and not interfere with his play.

Not me Monday

This week while the hubby was helping the little man brush his teeth I did not hear the little man say "It taste like candy cane." I then did not ask the hubby what he put on his tooth brush. He did not reply that he put our tooth paste on it because he did not want to find the little mans paste. So now when we go to brush the little mans teeth he does not ask for the candy cane toothpaste and we do not give it to him even tough we are still working on the whole spitting not swallowing thing.

Also this week the little man was not given a very famous mouse shaped chicken nugget which he then turned over and began driving it on the table. I asked what he was doing and he did not reply that it was a car. I would never of thought that a mouse with large ears could look like a car if you flip it upside down but the little man knew.

Yesterday we did not take a trip to go see the big man in the red suit. The little man did not refuse to sit on this strange persons lap. So the hubby did not sit next to him with the little man on his lap so I could get a picture that looked a little like he was on his lap.

Happy Monday.

I am that mom

- Who makes coffee in the morning not because I want it but because the little man is asking for it.

- Who lets the dishes pile high until we have no clean bowls.

- Who's kitchen table is always sticky.

- Who looks for 'clean' jeans for me and the little man in the dirty clothes basket more often than not.

- Who's idea of a great sewing project is one that I can start and finish during nap time.

- Who finds her self just watching in amazement as the little man plays because he has such creativity and imagination.

- Who sits down at the computer to check the email and than finds myself lost in blogging, facebooking and so much more.

I am that mom but I would not change it for anything.

5 years

Has it really been 5 years since I got married to my wonderful hubby?

Time sure does fly.

Tis the season...

To be so busy that you neglect your blog. Posting on wordless days are easy but finding the time to sit down at the computer and write is much harder.

With Christmas being right around the corner my mind has been going a million miles a minute.

What to make everyone for Christmas gifts? Once I get something in my little mind something else catches my eye. And than before you know it neither one sounds good anymore.

What should the little man make for gifts? We tried making something and it was a flop. We tried another and he wanted nothing to do with it. I think that I have it narrowed down but we will see.

We put the tree up a few weeks ago but it still does not have any decorations on it. I think that this just might be a new tradition. The decorations never made it on the tree last year either.

But of course the house has lights. I had told the hubby that we cant do lights unless he has a job, but when it got closer to Thanksgiving I started to feel bad. I just know how much he likes Christmas lights. So he put up three strands just like last year. After the officer shooting in Lakewood we changed all of our lights to blue except for 4 white lights on the garage. One for each officer.

We did take a family photo for our Christmas card last night. Here is a little sneak peek.

I need to finish it up and get them printed so they can hopefully be mailed out BEFORE Christmas.

Even though I feel like I am so busy I am enjoying the Christmas season.

We love our men (and women) in blue

I was in shock to say the least yesterday when I heard the horrible news that four more of our local police officers we shot and killed just for being cops.
Less than a month ago there was another officer killed in Seattle.
So here is to our men and women in blue. Thank you for all that you do.

(The little man sporting his police officer pajamas and a potato head dressed like an officer also)

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of
Sgt. Mark Renninger
Officer Ronald Owens
Officer Tina Griswold
Officer Greg Richards
Officer Timothy Brenton

Thankful

I am thankful for...

All of my wonderful friends and family that have such warm hearts and helping hands. It has been a rough few month and I know that it has been all of you that have helped to get through.

My hubby. I know that the past few months have been really hard on you as the provider. I thank you very much for staying positive (most of the time). You have not let not having a job get the best of you. We keep holding on knowing that the perfect job is out there for you some where.

My little man. With you there is never a dull moment. I just cant help but smile when I look at you. I cant believe how fast you are growing up. It brings tears to my eyes. I love to watch and help you grow into a wonderful young man.

The bun. Some may look at this pregnancy as horrible timing but with God there is no horrible timing, only his timing. You remind me everyday to slow down because before I know it you will be there and there will be any time for rest.

What the future holds. I am pretty sure that we have made it through the worst of times so the only way is up from here. This coming year there is so much to look forward to, I can put what we have been through in the past and move forward.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Almost Wordless Wednesday

The little man felt the baby kicking the other night. I told him that she was kicking him and his response was...
"Baby sister kicking me. Baby sister trying to get out."

A quick trip to the snow

Sunday after church we left to spent a few days up at the cabin and the snow.

It was pretty slippery drive up there. There was one spot on the hill that I thought we were going to get stuck in but we made it up.

Monday was a beautiful day for playing in the snow.

The little man had a great time sledding. I went down the hill once with him but I was so out of breath by the time I made it back up I decide I was done sledding.

It was much easier for the hubby to take him sledding.

They also enjoyed ridding the quad around. There was not enough snow for the snow mobiles, so maybe next time.

After a long day of playing in the snow it was time for some nice warm split pea soup and hot coco.

This morning when we woke there was not much snow left. It had warmed up and rained all night.
The drive down the hill was another slippery one.
Maybe the next time we make it up there will be lots more snow to play in.

Where did Wednesday go

My goal for Wednesday was to post a new picture of my baby bump (it is getting bigger). But as you can tell that went out the window.

So what did I do all day yesterday...

I never got dressed
Tried to clean the house
Cleaned the bathroom because it really needed it after the little man managed to pee all over it TWICE yesterday
Made some phone calls
Helped the hubby work on the truck
Baked
Made pumpkin puree
Made breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Washed some laundry
and I still managed to find some time to start and finish a new knitting project.

But the funny thing is...

I am still not dressed
The house is not clean
The bathroom smells like pee (again)
My tummy is telling me that it is breakfast time
There is still MORE laundry to be done, folded and put away
and I found a few more knitting patterns that are just calling my name.

This is just my life and I am loving it.

Life in our small town

When something big happens in a small town most of the town shows up. On Saturday our friends were getting an old house burnt down, on a piece of property that they own. We took a little walk down the street to watch the show. It was a little cold but pretty soon the flames were going and we felt the heat.

The firefighters took full advantage of this opportunity to use this as a learning experience and do some training.

Now every time we have gone past where the house once was the little man says "No firefighters burning the house today." We are also trying to help him understand that the firefighters job is to put out fires not start them.
I think that our next trip to the library we will have to find some more books on firefighters.

Good bye monster trucks

This was the view in the little mans 'old bedroom.' He had a monster truck theme, but we decided that the trucks would not do for a little girl.

The plan was to paint the room pink, but I came across a wallpaper border that matched the blue, green and brown walls. The hubby was really happy to not have to paint.

So here it is.

There is still a little work to get done in there. It should be done before she gets here, even though she wont use her room for a while. It is just nice to be getting things together.

As for the little man is really enjoying his new room.

A package for me

Today just after the little man went down for his nap there was a knock at the door. It was the UPS man with a package for me.
I was very excited.

Inside the package was 6 organic Bummis infant prefolds and a small pink super brite cover. Sent to me because I follow the Bummis blog and I entered a giveaway they were having and I won. This is the first thing that I have ever won that I know I will really use. Thank you Bummis.

Now I am just playing the waiting game to see how they are going to look on her bottom. I will try to remember to update in March on how they work.

There comes a time...

In every little boys life when it is time to get a first hair cut. That time came tonight.

The hubby and I have been talking about doing this for a while now, so tonight we decided to bite the bullet and do it. The little man was very happy. He has been asking every time I cut my hubby's hair for his to be cut also. So tonight his dream came true. He wanted us to use the clippers but I am just not ready to take that jump yet.

After watching a few videos on you tube we were ready. We pulled out the highchair. Gathered up a spray bottle, scissors, and a towel and we were ready. It was a tag team event. Daddy stared, Mommy went next and than daddy finished the trimming.

Now just maybe I wont have people come up to me now and say "what a cute little GIRL you have." But I am not going to hold my breath.

Not me Monday

On Thursday I did not come in to the kitchen to find the little man drinking from the carton of milk. That would of meant he opened the refrigerator, grabbed the open carton of milk, opened it and drank from if all by himself. He defiantly would not of seen me do something like that.

I also did not let him wear his Halloween costume two days in a row, Thursday and Friday. So when Halloween did come there was no way that he was going to put the costume back on. So this is not what he looked like on Halloween night.

He did not pick out the sun glasses because I wear glasses and he thinks that he should wear glasses also.

This is not what we were up to this weekend.

A quick trip

Yesterday we got back from a quick trip up to my parents cabin.
We were welcomed with a few inches of snow.

I just spent some time relaxing in the warmth of the cabin, knitting. I only left the warmth of the cabin to take a few pictures of the little man and than I was back to my warm spot on the couch.

While I was inside relaxing the boys were working. There were a few last minute items that needed to get done before it really starts snowing.

It was great to just get way, even if it was only for a night.

A little under the weather

The little man woke up on Wednesday morning not feeling very well.
Not long after that I started to not feel so well.
He is over it but I am not.
I guess that is just how life goes.
When I woke up from my nap yesterday my kitchen and living room were clean.
Thank you hubby. There was even clothes in the washer.
Since I have not been feeling up to blogging or taking pictures here are a few that the little man took a few days ago.

Me curled up on the couch in the hubby's coat trying to get some rest.

The little mans new train table. We bought of off Craigslist for $25. He loves it.

A little splash of color in the little mans new bedroom.

Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere

Since none of my five pumpkin plants in the backyard decided to produce any crop, we made a trip to the pumpkin patch. Well we never made it to a real patch. None of the local ones were open on a Monday morning at 11 am. So we went to the local fruit and vegetable stand.

The little man has been talking about pumpkins and hay for weeks now and now we got to get up close and personal with them.

After looking at all of the larger pumpkins the little man really just wanted one that he could hold. So we found a few sugar pumpkins that will do the job. That hopefully after Halloween I will find some time to bake them and freeze them for later use.
We than had to pull out the paints and make them look even more beautiful.

I hope everyone is enjoying fall as much as we are.

What I have been up to

I have been neglecting my blog but not my house.

Since the news that I received on Monday we have finally really started to get our house together. We are changing our back storage room into the little mans room so that when the bun gets here she can have his smaller room (not like she will use it right away anyway). So this means getting rid of a bunch of "stuff," reorganizing (well really just organizing everything in the first place)and lots and lots of shredding.

The back room is now empty. Ready to get the door put in and than painted (if we can ever decide on a paint color). We still need to pick up a mattress for the little mans new 'big bed' and than his room will be mostly complete.

Our new storage room/ office/ music room still needs some work. The drums have found a temporary home, we sold half of our desk on Craigslist (along with everything else that we can live without) and very soon this room will be in order also.

I went through all of the little mans old clothes. I have two overflowing garbage bags and three boxes to give to friends with little boys. One box to take to consignment and one more over flowing garbage bag for the Goodwill.

Today I am off to the consignment shop and Goodwill. Maybe I will find something pink that I just cant live with out.
