Our time spent in the hills

I days in the hills were very laid back and enjoyable. I just wish the days leading up to our trips were not so stressful. But maybe the stress makes the relaxing even more enjoyable.
We got into the area a whole day before our friends so we spent the first night camping alongside of the hubby's parents. The little man even spent the night with them in their trailer.
In the morning we hooked back up and drove the 10 miles or so to our friends property.
The weather was so iffy that one minute the sun was out and the next it was dumping. I tried the set the littles up outside for lunch but almost before they eat there first bite the rain was back.
Between the showers they were able to explore the outdoors just the two of them before there friends showed up.

The small pieces of wood in the wood pile made for nice building blocks.
On Saturday we headed into town for Packwood days. The streets are transformed into a giant flea market. And not flea market is complete without fair food.
We found a few items at the sales but nothing amazing. Of course the hubby found lawn equipment. I come home with a few cook books.
Its always fun to look even if we dont buy anything. Plus the littles have fun hanging out with their friends.
On Sunday when the hubby went back into town the little man ended up being naughty. Him and his friend found a pair of scissors and even though they are 4 and 5 years old they both thought it would be fun to cut their jeans and hair. I am just thankful that I checked on them when I did since the little lady was in the trailer with them and who knows what could of happened then. So the little man is now sporting a new hair cut.
Also on Sunday one of the families there decided to bring down a whole truck load of snow for the kids to play in. How many kids get to play in the snow in the end of May in 55 degree weather? The little lady had a few issues of falling on it but other than that fun was had by all.

All in all we had a great time in the hills.
Hopefully now I can get back into the groove if things before our next trip.

Lost in the hills

Our family has been lost in the hills for the past six days.
It was only the past six days that our family was off in the hills but I feel like I have been there for weeks. My head is just lost in the clouds somewhere.
More pictures and stories from our camping trip to come... right now I am off to bed... being lost can really be draining.

Exploring

Just a short stroll away from our camp site was a river that we decided to go exploring in.

At this spots the water was nice and calm. There was a wonderful large beach and bank to play on and we had the whole area to ourselves.

The littles were able to explore.
The little man had fun playing in a large hole that he called the 'baseball field'.

He also explored the water looking for fish and whatever else he could find.

The little lady spent most of her time exploring the sand.

Until she did this.

And I threw down the camera (the hubby picked it up) and I made this face.

And she made this face.

And of course she got very sad that I tried to take the sand from her mouth.

As soon as I got as much sand as I could out of her mouth she was shoveling handfuls of it back in there.
Yuck!
There is no way that sand tastes good.
Hopefully by the next time we make it down to the river she will learn that sand is not for eating.

Our trip to the woods

Our family had a great time in the woods.

Riding quads.

Putting in some pipe.

Going for walks.

Cutting some wood.

Eating some chocolate and ice cream.

And just hanging out relaxing.

RIP Bert. Enjoy your resting spot among the trees.

Our trip

I think maybe, just maybe, I am all rested up from our trip. It was so nice to just get away for five days and forget about all the thing that need to get done at home.
Family was wonderful. Staying with the in-laws in there trailer could of been a lot worse. I dont have any complaints. The little man enjoyed playing with all of his cousins. He did not know what to think at first but learned really quickly to just tell them to back off.
We will have to make sure that we plan another trip for next year, if not sooner.
Yesterday was a very emotional day. We attended the memorial for a friends mom who passed away on Thursday. I did not know her very well, but just two weeks ago she took us out for some REAL Korean food. We will miss you Halmony.

Going to the Ocean

Summer is almost gone, I cant believe it. So our family is taking a trip to go and play in the sand and salty water. The weather report says that it is going to be low60's, cloudy, and many chances of rain. I am still pumped. A little rain never stopped me, I am a Washingtonian. There is a few more things to get done before the 8am deadline to leave. I will be back with lots of pictures and maybe some great stories.
