Win/ lose

I got no sleep last night.
Sometime I have been known to exaggerate a little, its just in my blood (thanks mom), but last night the little lady was up every hour. She did not wont to just nurse and go back to sleep. She wanted to be awake. So every time she woke up I had to do a little convincing rock her back to sleep. I dont mind rocking her but all night long does not really leave much time for me to sleep.
I think that it has to be her top teeth that are bothering her. Her gums are so swollen and I can see both teeth just below the surface.
So tonight we went out and got some teething tablets because I dont think the amber necklace is working anymore. It was working great for a while but not so much now. Maybe it only works when one tooth is coming in not four. So hopefully these tablets work because this mama needs some sleep.
So I reward myself today, for being such a trooper last night, was a soy pumpkin spice latte also known as a smile in a cup =]
Today was a beautiful fall day. A little chilly but beautiful.
The little man even sat out in the grass and watched as his favorite truck drove by.
Shortly after this picture was taken I went in to take the little lady potty like I do every time she wakes from a nap. And there in the bathroom was one of those pesky flies. After she had gone potty I reached for the hand towel.
I put the towel back and I swung with all my might but I missed.
Instead of hitting the fly I hit the light bulb in the vanity.
The light bulb popped and shattered everywhere. I was in shock. I could not understand what had happened. After I pulled myself together I wanted to cry.
The dumb flies were winning and I now had a huge mess to clean up.
I locked the kids up in the playroom with a baby gate across the door way and a large pile of O's on the floor and I got to cleaning. It did not take too long before the little lady notice that I was not in there and she started crying. I tried to clean quickly but I also did not wont to miss anything. I did as much as I could and then I rescued her.
Safe in mamas arms where she belongs.
I still did not trust my cleaning too much so I kept the bathroom door closed most of the night so that the little lady would not wonder in  there. Hopefully I can clean it a little more tomorrow while the little man is at school.
There was no way that I am going to let these flies win so I set out a trap for them.
A small dish of vinegar and dish soap. The first trap worked great.
I finally felt like I was winning.
I set trap number two a little while later and not one fly few into it. I think that they are getting smarter.
At least the little man got lots of enjoyment out of the box.

Today 10/04/10

Today something amazing happened.
Do you want to know?
Well, if you dont want to know then dont read any farther.
Are you ready for it?

Here it comes...

The hubby...
STARTED WORK TODAY!!!
He got a job working at our church doing maintenance and janitorial. He was so happy last night to file his last week of unemployment. I am very excited for him. After a year and a half he is back into the working field.
So since he is working that also means that I was up this morning with him making his lunch.
I would of been up anyway since the little lady things that 6:30am is the best time to wake up and stay up. No matter what time she goes to bed she is up somewhere between 6:30 and 7:30.
This is just so different than the little man. His morning as a baby started between 9:00 and 10:00 and it still does.
Speaking of the little man this is how he went to church last night.
Racecar pajamas, basketball shoes with a brown crushed velvet blazer. He would still be wearing it today if he would not of spilt water down this shirt as we were leaving church last night. So he came home and changed into his Superman shirt and Hulk/ He man pajama bottoms that he wore all day even out of the house to the thrift store and the auto part store. His unique style just keeps shining.
Tomorrow this little girl turns 7 months.
Some of her favorite things right now are eating finger foods, chewing on yarn, pulling hair, playing the piano (post to come), pulling herself up on the fireplace and being held.
She dislikes jared baby food, her car seat, taking naps. and getting dressed.

Ever since our applesauce making days my house has been taken over by fruit flies. I have tried just about everything to get them to leave.
I cant help it if I enjoy having fresh fruit in the house like bananas that cant go in the refrigerator. I also had to go out a few days ago and pick all of my green tomatoes because it started raining too much and they started cracking.
I think that I am going to try and make salsa with all of my tomatoes, if they make it through the flies. I never have before but I am excited to try.

All by his self

I just dropped the little man off at school looking like this.

Yes, that is two different shoes and Yes, they are both lefts.
For some reason we can only find one of the camo crocs. And since he wanted to wear his camo pants he just had to wear his camo croc also because the 'match.' So since the right shoe was MIA the blue shoe took its place.
I thought it was very creative and I never try to stop creativity so he went to school like that.
It could of been a lot worse.
He could of insisted on wearing his boxer shorts, leg warmers and lightning mcqueen socks.

Like he did the other day. I had asked him to get dresses so that we could head off to play to learn. When I walked into his bedroom this was his outfit of choice.
I did not really want to pop his creativity bubble but I also know that that was not really the best outfit for the occasion.
So we sat down and talked. We came to an agreement that if he wore pants to play to learn than when we got home than he could take them off and put back on the leg warmers.
The day before the leg warmer incident he did a great job getting himself dressed.

His shirt may of been on backwards and his pants had a whole in them but they were clothes and some days that is all we can hope for.

This moment- A watchfull eye

A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. -Amanda Soule

Yes I can can

It only took 2 days, 40 pounds of apples, 3 batches of applesauce, 1 newbie canner, 1 expert, and 1 very helpful and hungry little man (and a fussy little lady) to make 18 pints of applesauce and 7 quarts of sliced apples.
The little man mastered the apple pealing/ slicing/ coring contraption.

He really liked watching the apple peel come off in long curly strings and how the apple looked like a slinky when it was cut. But I think that he liked eating the apples the best.

Listening for the jar lids to go pop was almost magical.
I had a great time canning. Now that I have done it once I know that I can do it again and I will.
We have already discussed how we will do things a little different next year.

Chomper

Yesterday it happened.

The little lady got her first tooth.

And she is very proud of it.

Butting heads

I love how creative you are. I dont think that your wheels in your little head ever stop moving. When you start imagining you can do and be anything.

I love it when you tell a story and your face lights up. Like today when you were telling me all about the slugs. Its amazing to watch your personality come out.

I am sorry that you get frustrated with me and I do with you. Hopefully soon we will find a way that our two personalities can mesh a little better.
I love you my little man and thank you for being you.
