Let my little man wear the same shirt two days in a row.

Yesterday at the play date we went to.

Today playing in our play room.

Just one less thing to fight over today. Today WILL be a good day.

One down

I knitted my first baby hat to give away yesterday. Since there are 10 lady's that I know right now that are going to be having baby's or had a baby in the past week I decided they all need knitted hats. It is also a big money saver since it is a little tight right now. So this is just the first of many.

I knitted it with 100% cotton yarn so that it would be nice and soft along with washable. I got the pattern here and played with it a little to make it my own. I has some flaws but it should still be warm along with stylish.
When I finished the hat yesterday I had to run over and give it to her to see if it fit (well I guess I walked, they only live a few blocks away). It looked so cute on her head, still a little big but she will grow into it.
Hopefully soon I will post a picture of her wearing it.
Well I guess I need to get knitting, nine more to go.

Adventures with Elmo

Almost since the little man has been sleeping in his big boy bed he has had a bed mate. No not me but a big 3 foot stuffed Elmo.

A few days ago he came running down the hall at 7am holding his Elmo.
What are you doing honey?
No, no melmo.
You dont want Elmo any more in your bed?
Pointing to the playroom and saying No, no melmo again, we placed him on the couch.
The little man and I went back to his room. He nursed for a little while and than was ready to lay back down. As soon as I put him back in his bed he asked
Where melmo?
Do you want Elmo in your bed?
Ya with a big nod and smile on his face.
I went and got him and the was back off to sleep.

A few of the many thing that I do for the little man. This is just my life.

Not me Mondays on Tuesday

Well it is Tuesday already. Where did Monday go?

Yesterday I did not neglect my kid so that I could clean my house. I did not get the kitchen, living room, family room, the little mans room and the toilet clean but I still did not find time to vacuum or sweep.
I did not put the little mans boots on the wrong feet. He was not putting them on all by his self when I just had to but in and tell him what to do. I thought he was putting them on the wrong feet but I was the one who was turned around. My toddler is smarted than I am!!
I did not go to the store at 7pm just to buy ice cream, to eat while watching House, and came home with a whole shopping bag full of food.
Well and than today I did not go down to my parents house to watch history in the making in a dirty sweatshirt, with out a shower, deodorant, or even combing my hair.
History does not care what I look like and neither do I.

What a weekend

Friday afternoon I got a phone call from my mom who told me that my brother was at her house. Not my brother that lives down the street but my brother that lives in the wilderness of Northern Washington. The one that I have not seen in years.
This was the first time the little man got to meet his Uncle Doug (I was very surprised that before the night was over he was able to call him by name). We got to sit and catch up a little and he taught the little man how to do a google search.

googleing (yes thats my brother not a Geico cave man)

It was so nice to see him we stayed there till 9:30pm. Hopefully it wont be another two years before we see him again.
Saturday the little man helped me make our first carrot cake.

He enjoyed playing in the shredded carrots and stirring it 'round' and 'round'.

Our plans were to go out to dinner with some friends to harbor lights but they both got sick so we had a change of plans. So we invited the hubby's family. It was a very enjoyable dinner. I had great fish and chips and the hubby had what he says was the best steak he ever had, we both ended up with horrible heart burn, but it was worth it.
Sunday we had an EC play date. I am a member of a diaper free baby yahoo group. It was nice to get to meet some other moms and kids who have gone down the same road we are on. Before today I had only meet two other moms and one on blogger who have or are ECing their children. Hopefully we will be able to make it to some more get togethers soon.

Out after a long weekend

I hope that everyone else had a great weekend.

Two days of outings

Yesterday we had our norm play date at 9am. We had to leave it a little early and headed over to the local book store for another get together. After lunch two other moms and I headed over to the mall for some window shopping and some much needed walking. The little man took his nap in the mei tai for about an hour (much shorter than normal). We got home just after 3pm.
Today we headed over to my sisters house to spend some time with her two little ones while she was at work. We got there just after 9am. The little man had a blast playing with his cousins. He was so tired by the time we left at just after 2pm he put his blanket over his face and was out.

I did not want to wake him up so I hung around my parents house for a while and when he woke up he wanted to play in 'Grampa' and 'Grammas' very cool play closet. They just put up a white board and the little man enjoyed coloring on it.

Yes, I have that child

When we finally got home I decided my neglected house needed some TLC. Where to start? The pile of dishes in the sink sounded good. The little man helped me put the spoons in.

They are never to young to learn to help mama out a little.

A diaper for my big boy

Today I pulled out the sewing machine and made my first fitted diaper. I know what you are thinking "the little man is out of diapers why do you need fitted diapers?" It is true he is out of diapers during the day but at night me still 'wets the bed'. I am fed up with my cheep AIO (all in ones) that stink and are WAY too bulky. Every night when I get the little man PJ's on my hubby laughs when he sees the little mans diaper bulge. So I am thinking that the fitted diapers with a hemp insert will be less bulky and just as absorbent. There has been a few nights where he has stayed dry and hopefully there are more to come.

It is a good thing that the little man is out of diapers because as soon as I put it on him to try and take a picture of it he was trying to get it off. These were the best pictures. I made it out of a pale blue flannel bed sheet. It is somewhat straight and somewhat symmetrical. I will try it on him tonight and let you all know how it worked. If it works out well I have 2 more to sew up. I dont think that I am going to quit my day/night job to sew diapers. Thankfully I dont have to.

Also guess what the little man has learned to do. He can now go potty all on his own (if he is not wearing pants). He climbs up on his stool, lifts up the seat, pulls up his shirt, goes potty, puts the seat down and flushes. Earlier today I SAT him down on the potty. He got mad climbed off and STOOD and went potty. He is getting so big.

Not me Mondays

I did not let the little man run around with out pants most of the morning because my hubby has told me many many times to not let him do so because he always pees on the floor. And he did not pee on the floor.

My little man not drawing with no pants on

I also I did not forget to feed my kid breakfast because that would be mean. So he did not eat pretzels that I found in the car that were from last week.

Waiting at the doctor with no breakfast in his belly

Last but not least I did not spent $12 that we dont have at the thrift store on clothes for me and the little man.

It has been a week already

Pockets

Where did the week go. So I guess I should do a little recap.

Last Saturday I changed the little mans bed into a big boy toddler bed. My hubby was not excited as I was about it. He did a great job staying in it the first few nights but he soon learned that he can climb out of it at night. So you hear the slamming open of his door and then the pitter patter of his feet coming down the hallway right to our bedroom. He pushed open out door, I come and find him and he leades me back to his room where he wants me to sit in the rocking chair with him. Well this has only happened a few times, most of the times he still cries when he wakes up.

I think that everything is going really well. He has not slept in our bed for 5 nights or so. I think that once we get him to want to sleep in his bed more than we can start working on the other night time issues. The hubby wants to changes his bed back to a crib so that we can sleep train him (sad), but than once we change this bed back to a toddler bed than we will have the same problems again. I say if he really wants to sleep train him we need to do it while he is in a toddler bed.

Well anyway on a much less controversial subject I finished my first scarf. I think that I still want to add some flowers to it.

On Thursday at MOPS our subject was friends. I was so nice to hear that I am not the only one out there in the world looking for friends. They reminded me that I need to look beside me, behind me, and before me for friends. Just because someones kids are not the same age as my kid or even if they dont have any kids at all does not mean that they cant be my friend. I just need to remember to make time for them.

I hope that every ones week went well and I am so glad that it stopped raining.

Goals 2009 continued

5. Make a friend- or two. I just feel like I really need some one that I really connect with. I had a good friend last year but she moved down to Cal. in June. We still talk sometimes and email but I really miss her. Since she moved I have been looking (cafemom, meetup). I am not saying that I have not meet some really nice people. I am just saying I am still looking for that person to get close to and share life with that is not the hubby.

6. Make some money- become a WAHM. My hubby has been working 12 hour days since I quit my job 1 1/2 years ago. It is really starting to drain him. I dont know if I will make something and sell it or just start watching more kids but whatever it is it needs to bring in some money. I tried selling childrens books but I am really not a sales women. I am open for any ideas.

A great way to bring in the New Year

Hello 2009. We spent New Years eve with family and friends. The little man made all the noise he could at midnight, banging a pots and pans. But after the clock struck midnight he was turned back into this very tired sleepy boy and he was sound asleep before 12:20.

Now the tree is down and so are the light packed tightly in boxes waiting for next year. The little man helped us pack up things up and he had to say and wave bye to it all as we put the boxes in storage.
We got about 2 inches of snow over night. The 8 that we got a few weeks ago was almost completely gone. I wonder what the little man is thinks about the snow. Why does it keep coming and going? Why do I have to wear gloves, a hat and a jacket? Thank you aunt Michelle for the amazing hat. He had fun today adding snow to where our snow man once stood.
I have been thinking about my goals for the new year for a few weeks now but I know that I will continue to keep adding to them as the year goes on.
Goals for 2009
1. Get healthy- both physically and spiritually. (I think everyone has this on there list in one form or another) I started off the new year felling like garbage but I am going to change all that. (it the year for change right)
2. Get the little man to sleep in his bed- Bed time in our house is a big battle but I would really like to change it. If you have any suggestions I am open to anything that not CIO.

3. Start a garden- I grew tomatoes last year but they did not do very well. This year I am going to use the garden space over at my Grandpas house along with the green house. I have never done anything like this before so also if you can help point me in the right direction that would be great.
4. Keep a cleaner house- I got to start off the new year with a clean bedroom, no laundry and all my dishes clean so I guess thats a start.

Well thats all I got for now. I hope that everyone had a great and safe new year.
